Meeting with JAMES MORRIS MP
We have arranged a meeting for all DAGB members with James Morris, Member of Parliament for Halesowen and Rowley Regis. This will take place on Friday April 29th from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm at Halesbury Special School, Feldon Lane, Halesowen, B62 9DR
Although born in Nottingham, James has family roots in the area. He has been the constituency Member of Parliament since 2010 and has previously attended meetings with the Association. At Westminster, apart from having a very high attendance level at debates James is involved with three All-Party Parliamentary Groups, on Mental Health (which he has chaired since 2013), Youth Affairs and United Nations. James ran small businesses dealing with computer software before entering Parliament and represented Oxford University in cricket in a number of First Class matches.
Whatever members’ individual political beliefs may be, all governors are encouraged to attend this event and to take the opportunity of letting MPs know of their views on educational matters (only) which may in their turn influence aspects of Government policy.
Please book places at this event by using the e-mail address DAGBbooking@aol.com putting “JAMES MORRIS meeting” in the subject line and your name and the school(s) at which you are a governor in the body of the message. You should assume that a place will be reserved for you unless you are advised to the contrary (an unlikely event).
We would request that everyone who wishes to attend does book a place so that we can ensure that there is sufficient seating and refreshment for all. There is no charge for governors from DAGB member schools but a figure of £20 will be payable by those whose governing bodies are not in membership.
I look forward to seeing many of you at Halesbury.
